"THE HORUS HERESY: BETRAYAL AT CALTH" is a stand-alone game from Games Workshop, which is based on the mythology of WARHAMMER 40000 and specifically in the era of the Horus Heresy.
THE MYTHOLOGY BEHIND THE GAME
The game is based on the time period at which the Warmaster Horus’s Heresy took place. We are in the 31st Millennium and the Empire of MAN was at its peak, ever expanding thanks to the Great Crusade and the Legiones Astartes, until the moment where the gods of Chaos corrupted the Emperor’s favorite son, Horus. Horus in his turn persuaded a number of his siblings Primarchs to revolt against the Emperor.
The Betrayal at Calth is placed in this era. The Ultramarines, after receiving a huge blow from their "brothers" the Word Bearers, they resorted in the underground world of Calth where the two Legions conducted epic battles.
This is how the game begins!
"THE HORUS HERESY: BETRAYAL AT CALTH"
The game takes place in a claustrophobic environment, where two elite forces clash, the Ultramarines and the Word Bearers. You choose which of the two forces you will command. Through six different scenarios the story will eventually reveal the winner. To win the opponent you will need to use a multitude of range weapons (Bolters, flamers, heavy weapons, etc.) as well as the appropriate weapons for close combat (Chainblades, power weapons, chainfists e.t.c).

The games is composed by two parts. The first part are the collectible miniatures and the second is all the things you need to play the board-game.
