Warhammer-Age of Sigmar

Games Workshop has decided to renovate Warhammer Fantasy, literally changing its form. They dismissed large units, square bases, complex rules, and most importantly, there are no points at all!

The Mythology of the game
The Age of Sigmar is set in an age far into the future from the one Warhammer Fantasy was. After the End Times Chaos ruined the world and became dominant. Sigmar Heldenhammer, God-patron of Men, during the End Times, rescued those wanted to fight Chaos and believed in Him. He took them and brought them to Azyr and by the power of lightning reborn into something more than mortals, they were Stormcasts Eternal. Azyr reopened its gates to let its warriors to reclaim the world from the tyranny of Chaos.

HOW DO I PLAY THIS GAME?
Each player selects an army and chooses any models he wants. Since there are no points in this game you have to have the unit’s warscroll. The game, depending on number of the models, can be played on any table, small or large.

You can place on the battlefield any number of buildings or natural obstacles e.g. Forest.

If you want to play with Mysterious places, there is also a table to select randomly!

Each player alternately sets up his units at a distance of 12 inches from the enemy’s area of deployment. After that the players name a model as their general. That model will have the right to give orders in the Hero’s Phase.

MAGIC

Magic is very easy in Age of Sigmar. Any model with the key-word Wizard can cast or unbind spells. To cast a spell you roll 2 dice. If the total is equal to or greater than the casting value of the spell, the spell is successfully cast. If another wizard is within 18'', he can negate the spell. He roll two dice. If the total is greater than the casting wizard's total, then the spell is dispelled. In your turn, your wizard can unbind any spell in effect.

Who is the winner of the battle?
You achieve Major Victory if you succeed in destroying the 75% of the enemy army's models. At 50% you win minor victory. In the event there is a significant difference in the number of models between the two armies, there victory by Sudden Death. In this case there is a table with conditions for Sudden Death.

At the beginning of the round each player rolls one die. The winner starts first.

The phases of the game are as follows:
1. Hero’s Phase: in this phase the hero performs his heroic abilities and casts spells.
2. Movement Phase: the player moves his units.
3. Shooting Phase: the unit uses his range weapons.
4. Charge Phase: the unit charge into combat.
5. Combat Phase: the unit piles in and fights with close combat weapons.
6. Battleshock Phase: the unit tests its bravery after the combat.

Although new armies show up (and at the same time new models), you can play with the models you already have. Games Workshop made sure that there is Warscroll for each model that had created for Warhammer Fantasy (even for some Chaos familiars which no one played).

Most armies now belong to one of the four Grand Alliances, the Order Alliance, the Chaos Alliance, the Death Alliance and the Destruction Alliance.

Games Workshop offers a starter pack which costs 100 euros.
